The Weston FC U-13 Boys Premier team won the recently concluded 2009-10 South Florida United League Boys Division 1 championship . After a grueling season, marked by injuries and absences of several key players, the team entered the playoff weekend reasonably healthy and fairly confident. In the quarterfinal round, the Weston boys faced an undefeated Boca United U-13 team, and with a goal each from dual captains, Emilio Blanco and Christian Lue Young, on either side of half time ensured a 2-0 victory and a spot in the semi finals. The next day, a similar 2-0 defeat of Key Biscayne Milan’s U-13s earned the Weston boys passage to the final to face the Wellington Wave U-13 White team. The Weston U-13s scored a well deserved goal in the first half to take a 1-0 lead into the half time break. Wellington was very determined to get an equalizer and put up an immense fight in the second half but were unable to score. At the final whistle the score remained 1-0 for the Weston team. Congratulations to the team and good luck in the State Cup.
