Weston FC 2010 - 2011 Academy Announcement
March 1, 2010

Weston FC announces the formation of four 2010-2011 Weston Developmental Academy teams. In Marcelo Neveleff’s words, “Our soccer club has made great strides towards the development of its players, now there is a tremendous amount of national interest in Weston FC soccer players”.

Weston FC Academy: Founded in June 2009, Weston FC Academy was formed out of a response from the U.S. Soccer Federation to have a Player Development Program that would enable the U.S. Development Academy teams the ability to train at the highest standards. The U.S. Soccer Federation requires at a minimum; training at least 4 days per week, specific technical and tactical training sessions, position specific tactical training, patterns and soccer specific fitness training. Also included are player attendance reports, scouting reports, Showcase game analysis, written player analysis and many other player development issues, all of which is reported back to the Federation. The Weston FC Academy will be overseen by Carlos Parra, Director of Soccer for Weston FC; Marcelo Neveleff is the Director of the Weston FC Academy, with Alvin James and Victor Musa serving as Academy Coaches.

U-16 and U18 U.S. Development Teams: These teams will be comprised of players born January 1, 1992 through December 31, 1994, in addition to some exceptional 1995s. Players will be placed based on ability and not necessarily age.   Stronger players will play ‘up’, whenever possible. All of the hard work is paying off for Weston FC; both teams are vying for USDA playoff positions in the USDA Southern Region. The players’ progress has been evident in many ways, including two players receiving invitations to the U18 U.S. National Team Camp and a record 8 players, Kevin Barbar, Aaron Dupree, James Pucci, Brian Lima, Henry Penagos, Lucas Simonds, Enrique Senf, and Jeremy Katz having been offered college scholarships. Special congratulations to Brian James for making the Chelsea All-star Team and to Steeven Saba for being invited to Blackburn Rovers for a tryout with their youth team.

U-15 and U-16 (New to Weston FC) Weston FC Development Academy: Players born between January 1, 1995 and December 31, 1996, in addition to some exceptional 1997s will be eligible for these teams. Building on the success of the inaugural Pre-Academy team and season, Weston FC has had two of their finest, David Mejia and Ismael Longo, invited to the U.S. National Team Camp. Both teams will primarily play in FYSA sanctioned leagues and national tournaments, playing friendlies with USSF National and Academy teams, while adhering to the U.S. Development Academy training mandates. The U-15 team will conclude its season in the prestigious Nike Manchester Cup played in Portland, Oregon.     All inquires for these teams should be directed to our Academy Director, Marcelo Neveleff at gneveleff@aol.com.
