Weston Soccer Club Copryright 2012 02/22/2012 02/22/2012 www.westonsoccer.net News from Weston Soccer Club 2012 Weston FC Raffle Winner Selects $15,000 Cash Prize! 02/22/2012 08:37 AM http://www.westonsoccer.net/home/600468.html This year’s winner of the annual Weston FC soccer raffle was Bettina Riccobono of Cooper City.  Bettina and her husband Oracio have 3 children, of which 2 play soccer in our Weston FC club.  The Riccobono family has been involved in community soccer for over 15 years in south Florida.  Bettina has decided to take the CASH option and will receive $15,000 after her ticket was selected last night in the annual draw at Carolina Ale House.

In addition, a big THANK YOU to all the Weston FC players and parents for supporting this year’s Weston Cup & Showcase tournament.  The event was extremely successful. We had 485 teams involved with 818 games played over 4 days. Congratulations to the Weston FC teams that made it to the finals and won a Championship!

In the semi finals they faced a tough team and the winner of that game was going to be determined by skills and discipline.  The boys used their team effort and dribbling skills in the championship finals. Congratulations to the Premier White Players and to all the U9 PDP family for their tremendous support.

To accomplish this task, they played against the third, second, and first place teams - three very strong teams in their division, never giving-up, playing with a lot of heart and passion to reach the set target of 1st place. The Final match was particularly a very exciting one where their opponent, West Pines United Black, tied the game in the very last minute, and the game went into extra time. Swoosh scored again in the first half of extra time on a header from a corner kick, and endured West Pines United's constant pressure to win the Championship. Congratulations to the Swoosh squad, the parents, and Coach Doug Macias, for a weekend full of excitment and winning the SFUYSA 2011-2012 Regular Season U12 Division-1 Championship.

Again the team played in the U11 division and competed against teams from North and Central Florida. This tournament proved to be a new challenge for the girls as in every game they were outsized and outweighed, but never were they outplayed. The team outscored their opponents 17- 3, making it to the finals, where they lost a very close game by one goal.  Congratulations to the U10 Manchester United girls and their coaches on another great effort!
