Weston FC Player Development Program (PDP)/Academy
Objective: To implement a program for U9 boys and U9 and U10 girls that provides a bridge from recreational soccer to competitive travel soccer, maximizing player development for their future progression.
Program Description:
Players will be selected at the tryouts in June for the PDP based on basic ability, potential, and desire for a 9+ month continuous soccer training program. The program would be overseen by the Weston FC technical staff and directed by qualified PDP Directors. A detailed training curriculum has been established to enhance player development. There will be two practices per week from 5-6:30 pm; one at Vista Park and one at Weston Regional Park, plus an optional third session,location to be determined. The optional sessions will be offered 3 times throughout the month and will focus on a specific subject, in accordance with the planned curriculum.
Schedule:
September – October 2010
Weekly training begins. Training will be in small groups, comprised of eight to ten players, per the program curriculum. Small groups will be randomly assigned initially and subject to change. Teams will be formed weekly to facilitate play in a 6 week Internal League (IL); which will be organized under AYSO rules and regulations including balanced teams and minimum playing time requirements.
November – March 2010
Upon completion of the IL, the PDP Directors will form teams, by age group and gender, for the SFU and FLUGSA seasons. Placements will be based on performance and potential, in accordance with the PDP philosophy. Coaches will then be assigned to teams, based on criteria and performance evaluations. Training will continue in accordance with the PDP curriculum.
March – May 2010
After completion of the SFU and FLUGSA seasons and a one week rest period, a 2nd IL will be organized to begin on or about March 14 and conclude on or about May 15th.
Tournament: Teams will participate in the Weston Cup in February and will be permitted to participate in other pre-approved tournaments, inline with the PDP philosophy.
Coaches: Coaches will be selected by the Weston FC Technical Staff along with the PDP Directors and will have minimally an ”E” license and AYSO certifications.
