Labor Day weekend saw the Fury 92/93 Boys Premier team head to Orlando Florida for the Disney Showcase Qualifiers. 

In the first game against Brevard County, WFSC dominated play and won 6-0 with several players slotting their first goals of the year. The second game against F.C. America turned out to be a fierce battle, with F.C. getting the first goal midway through the first half. At that point the Fury players turned on the heat and got the tying goal with 2 minutes left, ending 1-1. The third game saw the team start a little flat but still they managed a 1-0 halftime lead against a very feisty Indian River team. Indian River finally broke through late in the second half tying the game, and then scored again, as the wheels came off for Weston. Indian River proved to be too much taking the game 3-1 and eventually won the tournament.

“Although we did not advance to the semi-finals, we had a good tournament. Other than the last 10 minutes of the third game, we played very soundly and looked dominating at times. Hopefully, we learned our lesson about thinking ahead, and become a little stronger mentally for future events” said Head Coach Jerry Willenborg.
