After playing up a year and finishing top of U11 Div. 2, winning play off's and region cup the U10 blue boys continued to strectch thems leves by opting to play U11 Div 1 at the Countryside Easter Tournament. The competition was strong as three teams from Region C U11 Div. 1 Semifinalist were participating. On Friday, Weston played Central Florida United (from Orlando) U11 A and B teams. Weston was disciplined and controlled the majority of the game by spreading the field and using a passing game to maneuver through the competition resulting in a couple of victories.
On Saturday Weston met Largo and came upon a bigger and faster team that unfortunately caught us off guard very quickly. Their first two possessions were fast break counter attacks resulting in quick goals. Weston adjusted their defense to counteract Largo's speed through the remainder of the half but got caught on the last play of the half as Largo was able to go up 3-0. Weston had a number of chances but was unable to convert pass strong Largo keeping. In the second half Weston controlled the game from the whistle and quickly was able to pull back 2 goals, but was unable to complete the comeback and as they pushed up late in the game Largo was able to finish off some fast breaks to close the game.
Due to some unlucky tie-break scenario's Weston did not advance to the semi-finals, but the boys had a great time and proved they could be competitive against strong U11 Div 1 teams from Region B and Region C.
