U-9 Boys Premier Win Plantation Thanksgiving Classic
November 2007

The Weston Fury U9 Boys Premier Team played at an outstanding level in the recent Plantation Eagles Thanksgiving Classic Tournament which took place in Plantation, Florida.

Their first encounter was against the Miramar team. Weston showed great control of the game through smart plays and taking advantage of their opponent by beating them 2-1. Their second opponent Lauderhill Lions was no different and the boys did it again by showing their skill set and demonstrating their level of superiority one more time achieving a final score of 7-0. After a day of rest, the U9 came together again to finish their preliminary games with another win against Kendall with a final score of 3-0.

The next step was to take the energy and enthusiasm to the semi-finals where they felt confident they could do it again with another rival from up north; Wellington. The team’s only desire was to win and after the end of the first half they felt the dream was closer to home with a lead of 3-0. Nonetheless, the Wellington team did not give up and managed to tie the game with a score of 3-3 on the second half. Weston Fury U9 continued their battle scoring two additional goals but Wellington continued their fight and managed to tie the game 5-5 one more time. The game ended and it was time to move to penalty kicks. During penalty kicks, Santiago Hermida the Fury goalkeeper was outstanding, saving two spot kicks which meant Weston secured the victory with a final score of 4-3.

The final game came and it was Weston Fury against SAA-Real Madrid. The game was extremely physical and Weston once again showed their understanding of the game and pushed onto a 3-0 lead. A few minutes before the game ended, the Fury scored another goal to win the championship 4-0.  “This is a wonderful and well deserved accomplishment” stated head coach Andres Bolivar.
