Weston Fury Soccer Club 2006-2007 Season In Review
August 8th, 2007

While competing at the highest level, the technical staff always has to keep in mind the club’s product-players. Carlos Parra and Aguinaldo Ferreira, the WFSC Boys and Girls Technical Directors had this to say when asked what Player Development meant to them.

Carlos Parra
“There are many components in player development, firstly the player has to continue to want to improve and thus be willing to step into different competitive cauldrons and be willing to get exposed. When a player approaches the game with this mentality the coach’s role is as much about leading and managing as it is about providing environments that allow the player to improve technically and tactically”

Aguinaldo “Gui Gui” Ferreira
“Our product is players. As a player graduates from the Fury program we aim to assist them in becoming student athletes at the best schools possible. For those players who don’t wish to play college ball our aim is to have nurtured a love for the game that means they will continue to play for fun, referee, coach or volunteer in youth sports. , Basically, we hope they give back to the community”.

So what does the future hold for the Fury? Alan Foy Director of Operations believes he knows.
“The Fury’s aim is to be the pace setter here in Florida and continue its growth as a nationally recognized program. This will be achieved by continuing the development of our club’s infrastructure. We have a tremendous group of volunteers and they, along with the players, are the core of our club. The staff is outstanding and continues to improve. We have 7 staff that hold a USSF “B” License or higher and an additonal 8 with the USSF National "C" License. This does not include the other staff who hold national diplomas with the NSCAA, FIFA Licenses and the USSF National Youth License. When you couple this with the two full time technical directors and two full time administrators, it’s amazing. By working together when the ball is outside the white lines we can truly impact what occurs when a player pulls on the club colors to play”.

With the ground work of the past three years beginning to bear fruit. The future is very bright for the Fury, as it continues to be a standard bearer for Florida, competing in high level competitions, developing players and nurturing a love for the “beautiful game”.
