November 6th, 2007

New global branding strategy will connect the corporate identity of the Bank and all Mercantil Servicios Financieros subsidiaries throughout the world

Coral Gables, FL (November 6, 2007)Mercantil Commercebank, N.A. , previously Commercebank N.A., today launched a new branding strategy that includes a new corporate identity as the result of a global branding study, an initiative of Mercantil Servicios Financieros (Mercantil), parent company of the Bank’s holding company, Mercantil Commercebank Holding Corporation.
Mercantil is an 82 year-old, leading financial services company that provides banking, wealth management, and insurance services through subsidiaries and representative offices in North and South America, and Europe.
The brand study was led by Emblem, an international branding consultant with offices in New York, Caracas, Mexico, Panama, and Colombia. Results of the study, which included the participation of the Bank, led to the rebranding strategy that seeks to reaffirm the global reach and the strength of the Mercantil brand with the highly recognized and respected financial subsidiaries across different geographies. The rebranding initiative includes a new advertising campaign, and a new graphic identity reflected in external and internal signage, and collateral material.
“The rebranding initiative has a fundamental objetive,” said Gustavo A. Marturet, Chairman and CEO of Mercantil Servicios Financieros. “We will integrate the Mercantil name in all our subsidiaries precisely to convey our competitive advantage in the global market place– our solid trajectory, our global resources, and our local expertise in the markets we serve.”
While the scope of Mercantil Commercebank has broadened with the rebranding initiative, the Bank’s business strategy and focus continue to be domestic banking, providing services to individuals and companies within its U.S. markets, including South Florida, Houston, and New York.
“Our structure and operations will be impacted in a positive way,” said J. Guillermo Villar, President and CEO of Commercebank.  “Now we have the opportunity to communicate in a more direct way that the strength, dynamism, and vision of the Mercantil brand are part of our institution for the benefit of our customers.”
