U-14 Boys Premier vs US Girls National Team
April 3rd, 2007

U-14 Boys Premier played in a very comeptitive game against the U16 Girls National team on Tuesday April 3rd at Weston Regional Park.

The U16 Girls National team was visiting south Florida for their spring training camp and through Nike a scrimmage was organized. The game was played at a high tempo and went from end to end. The Fury boys realized early they where in for highly competitive game and work hard throughout the match. The national team took a 1-0 lead into half time after a well worked moved down the right side and a calm finish in the box.

The second half saw a change in formation for both teams with the Girls national team moving from a 4-4-2 to a 3-5-2 and the U14 Boys changing from 3-4-3 to a 3-5-2. The U16 Girls continued to have the edge and despite Fury keeper Brian Slyvestre stopping a penalty kick they went on to win 3-0.

When speaking with Carlos Parra, the boy’s director about the game and its outcome Carlos stated, "it is always nice to win and we always ask our players to find the solutions that will aid that outcome. However games such as these mean so much more to the players and the club. This is all about exposure. Players need to be placed on the field against quality opponents, we provided that for the national team today and our players where in turn stretched and asked new questions which can only help them as they go forward". These players are fortunate in that they can say they have played against a national team and faced the countries colors, not very many athletes are afforded such an experience. Our membership is provided these opportunities because of our affiliation with Nike".
