Victory once again for the U-16 Girls Nike at Region and Presidents Cup!
April 9th, 2007

The Weston Fury U-16 Girls Nike are once again the team to watch and cheer for as they prepare forsuccessive runs at the Region III Directors Cup which will be held in Tampa Florida the weekend of June 9th.

The team is filled with talent and dedicated players who know exactly how to turn on the heat and defeat their opponents when the stakes are high.  Last year, the team had an outstanding season by winning the Region A Cup via penalty kicks and securing the Presidents Cup in Shutouts in both the semi-final and final. The team moved on to the Directors Cup in Huntsville, Alabama and made it to the semi-final.

This season ended in Victory once again. The team is prepared to give it their all in Tampa to make Weston proud.

The Fury’s winning streak began at Region Cup Final in Plantation when the Fury won in overtime and moved on to President’s Cup in Pensacola in early April.

At President’s Cup, the Semi-Final resulted in a 2-0 Victory for Fury. The competition was tight and East Pasco could not manage to score despite several break away attempts and numerous head on shots on goal. Jacqui Latham and Kelly McIntyre scored goals. Goalkeeper Kelsey Gil was as busy a player as her team mates and stopped several direct shots on goal and defended all breakaway attempts. The Shutout was challenging but the defense and Keeper worked to keep the pressure on despite East Pascos’ many attempts on goal.

The finals were played again Central Florida United early Sunday morning. The Fury and CFU fought long and hard. However, Weston was determined to take home the Cup. They did just that in a 3-1 victory. Two goals were scored by Tierney Whalen Ariela Mabourakh scored with a precision foul kick.
