The Weston Fury U14 91/92 Girls Premier team played this past weekend in the Plantation Thanksgiving Tournament U15 Division, and finished the soccer filled weekend as CHAMPIONS. 

 

The girls started the weekend by playing the Coral Springs Storm on Friday afternoon and winning 3-0.  Goals were scored by Brianni Lorenzo (2) and Katie Baker (1). 

 

They then went on to play two games on Saturday.  The first game was played against a very physical Strictly Soccer team from St Petersburg, the team went down 1-0 in the first half and played tough until they were awarded a free kick about 25 yards out and Abby Carr scored to tie the game with about ten minutes left.  The game ended in a 1-1 tie and put us into a position to advance into the Championship game.  The girls then played a talented team in the Coral Springs Renegades.  Stefani Paulinelli started the scoring by finishing a cross that came from Dallas Carter and then Dallas scored on a great feed from Brianni Lorenzo making the score 2-0.  The Renegades team never gave up and ended up tying the game at 2-2 and that is how the game ended, with a rematch waiting for the two teams early on Sunday morning. 

 

With game time at 8am on Sunday morning the Fury and Renegades were ready to square off again.  The game was dominated by the Fury girls and at halftime the score was 0-0.

The Weston team was knocking on the door until finally Melony Poviones put a corner kick into the back of the net with about 20 minutes to go and Ashley Oswald scored from about 20 yards out about three minutes later.  Ashley then scored again from almost the same location with about ten minutes left in the game, and the game ended with a score of 3-0.
