Orange Classic Report

Weston Nike vs. West Pines United      2-2

In what seemed to be a lethargic post holiday start to the tournament, play seemed slow and uninspired from both teams.  However, Kendal Cristaudo stepped up her play to hammer home an early goal to put the Fury 1-0 ahead. Giving away a corner kick shortly thereafter, the Fury allowed West Pines to tie the game up 1-1. The Fury keeper, Adrianna Rosario, single handedly saved the game for the Fury by making numerous spectacular saves. Fortunately for the Fury, Nikki Haimes collected the errant ball and put it in the back of the net to take a 2-1 lead. Almost immediately thereafter, the Pines Team tied it up 2-2.  Pines continued to pressure the Fury throughout the remainder of the game. However, due to the spectacular efforts of GK Rosario, the Fury was able to hold on to the tie.

Weston Nike vs. Plantation Eagles    5-1

Playing in her characteristically tough manner, Natalie Bradbury scored the first goal of the game with a stunning individual performance. The Fury faithful next heard from Alexandra Ness who stepped up and seized her opportunity to pound one in from approximately 35 yards out to prove that goals can be scored by defenders. Plantation cut the lead to 2-1 when they fought tough in the box to knock in Plantation's only goal of the game. Kendal Cristaudo started the scoring in the second half as she took a pass from Kyla Wintter and knocked it in from left to right giving Kendal her second goal of the tournament. Shortly thereafter, Nikki Haimes scored her second goal of the tournament. The final goal of the game was scored by Kyla Wintter on an assist from Kendal Cristaudo.

Weston Nike vs. Miami Premier       1-1

The field was wet, the sun was bright, and Miami Premier jumped to an early lead that they held throughout the first half.  Although our Fury girls outplayed Miami, they were unable to put the ball into the back of the net due to solid defending by Miami defenders and their keeper.  The fury went into half time behind 0-1 despite the Fury taking more than 5 times the number of shots as Miami

The Fury came out of the half time break playing even stronger than before. Nikki Haimes finally took matters into her own hands and tied the game with a goal of her own.  Although the Fury spent the majority of the second half with 5 or more players on Miami's half of the field, the Fury could not convert and the game ended in a tie.

The Fury's record in the tournament was 1-0-2 and the Fury Nike did not advance to the semifinals.
