The WFSC U11 Premier Girls road to FYSA Region A Cup was a competitive affair. In the preliminary rounds the Fury where drawn against Plantation Eagles and Coral Springs Storm. Game 1 was against the Eagles and saw the Fury win 4-1 with 2 goals from Sara Coy, Kaitlyn Stolzenberg and Frankie Garett in a game that was always controlled by Weston. The next game was against the Storm and it was the Fury’s second of the day and the Storms first, so fatigue could be a factor. The Storm are the only team to have defeated the Fury this season so they new it would be a close game. With Coral Springs taking a 1-0 into half time the Fury new they had to step it up to make sure they gained automatic qualification into the semi final. The Fury dominated the second half and came through and scored two goals including a header from Victoria Lares, without reply to secure a 2-1 victory and a semi final spot.
The semi final saw the Fury pitched against an ever improving Kendall team. The Fury started extremely well and took an early 1-0 through a Sara Coy goal and created many more chances. However, Kendall fought hard and played their way back into the game and tied the game up early in the second half. The match looked like it may go to extra time but the continuous pressure lead to penalty that was converted by Heather Marsh to see Fury through to the final against Miramar Strikers.
The Fury came ready to play for the final and raced into an early lead with goals from Amanda Kreitzer and two from Sara Coy before the first quarter. By half time the score was 4-0 after a great finish from Andriena Sifontes. Kaitlyn Stolzenberg made it 5-0 and Sifontes scored her second to make it 6-0 and then Amanda Kreitzer scored her second to round off a 7-0 Championship victory for the Fury.
WFSC Head Coach Alan Foy Said "We are very pleased with the girls performance this season and it is a great achievement to win Region Cup in such a competitive region. We should not forget our defenders or wide midfielders KK, Ruth, Nati and Andrea or our keeper Vicky who have been the backboneof the team and allowed the rest of team to be so good in front of goal".
The WFSC U11 Girls Premier will now go onto FYSA Presidents Cup and are proud to have earned the opportunity to represent the region.
