The Vision for WFSC Academy Program

The Vision for WFSC Academy Program

What does the WSC Academy Provide?

Experiences at the younger age levels in order to effect performance when there U14's and older.

  • An environment to develop talent and playing ability.
  • Training sessions that are led by USSF "A" & "B" Licensed coaches
  • Activities to maximize playing and participation in order for a player to be stimulated
  • An arena for problem solving, technical challenges and creates a love for the game.

What about Winning?

The future is more important than the present when working with and developing youth players

Winning is not the absolute indicator that measures player development. The impact

of the academy will be measured through excellence and success as players progress

into the next age groups.

In the academy the idea is to develop a pool of talented players versus 2 or 3.

WFSC Academy will constantly challenge players and invest in their long-term development rather than be oriented to only win games to measure our progress in this age group.

Winning is not the, be all, end all in the process of player development. Through the process of competition young players learn to WIN.

Playing Time

It is impossible to improve and develop IF playing time is predicated on winning the game. Players cannot develop if they don't get onto the field or are not challenged, stretched or taken out of their comfort zone. Therefore the WSC Academy will play players in a variety of positions and set individual goals in training environments in order to maximize every developmental opportunity.

Playing time must be managed not to conflict with the club's philosophy of development versus results and therefore will not be affected in order to try and win a specific game.

Remember PLAY is the key word in player development.
