Fury U12 Boys Win 2-0 vs. Solar SC at Dallas Cup

The Fury U12 Boys took advantage of two first half chances against a top ranked Solar team out of Dallas to win 2-0.

Nico Rodriguez-Fraile broke through Solar's left side, pulled the ball back to his right foot, and struck a long diagonal ball that cleared the back side of the defense to be met by Peter Roberts who volleyed the Fury into a one goal lead from 8 yards out.

The Fury made it 2-0 off a two man corner with Tomas Granito and Alec Lowell combining. Granito tapped the ball to Lowell who beat one defender from Solar along the end line. Lowell finished off the dribble from close range by knocking the ball into the roof of the net to make it 2-0.

"This was a very good side we played against today. Our team scored a couple of great goals and managed to keep a clean slate. Our backs and goal keeper had a good performance." Fury U12 Coach Jerry Willenborg.

Nico Rodriguez-Fraile almost made it 3-0 in hitting the cross bar while still in the first half. The second half was the kind of contest you would expect in a competition that considered one of the best youth tournaments in the country, and perhaps the world. Brian Sylvestre came up big on two occasions to keep it at 2-0 for the final.

"Getting 3 points out of the first game is big and a good way to start" WFSC Technical Director Dave Simeone said, "The challenge in this tournament is playing a game a day of that intensity and getting ready to do it again tomorrow"

Next up for the Fury are Valley Blast United out of Southern California.
